Why do they call it a “Cup Of Joe”?
It appears that this saying originates with a Josephus Daniels. Mr Daniels was appointed by President Woodrow Wilson as Secretary of the Navy in 1913. As the story goes during his tenure he enacted sweeping reforms.
Two in particular were the introduction of women in service and the abolishment of the officers “wine mess”. Thereafter the strongest thing that could be served on a Navy ship was a cup of coffee. It was during that time and over a number of years that a cup of coffee became known as “a cup of Joe”
Which coffee made the Guinness Book Of World Records in 2006 for being the most expensive coffee?
Kopi Luwak from the Indonesian island of Sumatra has the honor of being featured in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the most expensive coffee.
